Using eBay to sell unwanted Christmas Gifts
If you’ve been crazy enough to brave the ‘stocktake sale’ crowds, you may have picked up a bargain at the shops, but at this time of year, online auction sites such as ebay are a bargain hunter’s delight….and a great place to offload unwanted pressies too.

Just try typing “unwanted xmas present” into the search box at www.ebay.com.au and you’ll see what I mean!

Here are a few tips to help you sell your ‘unwanted gift’ on ebay

*Be honest in the description and always include a photo
*Be realistic about the price; find a balance between getting a good price and offering a real
bargain for someone else.
*Also on the topic of setting a price, check to see if anyone else is trying to sell the same, or a
similar product and price yours accordingly.

If you’re looking to buy…

*Read the item description VERY carefully
*Make sure you are aware of the retail price of something before you bid
*Be aware of postage or other delivery costs before you bid
*Check the sellers ebay rating and read their feedback from other buyers and sellers
*If the seller accepts it, use an online payment service like Paypal to speed up the process of
buying

Using Webmail
Webmail used to be something that you used only if you often moved around between computers often…and it still is a great way to ‘travel’ with your email, but there are some other advantages of using webmail email services.

Stop Spam, Phishing and Viruses
Most good webmail services screen or filter your e-mail to help keep you safe by deleting or quarantining dangerous, or potentially dangerous e-mails. G-Mail for instance has a really great spam blocker, will not open pictures or links be default unless you tell it to, and recognizes e-mails with possibly forged headers and warns you that the e-mail or sender my be fraudulent!

Less Clutter on your computer
With servies like Yahoo and Google’s Gmail offering up to 2.5gigabytes of storage space for your email…that’s a bunch of data not taking up space on your hard drive!

Send larger emails.

I don’t recommend sending email with attachements over 5 megabytes…however with MSN Hotmail, you can send email up to 10 megabytes in size…something that your everyday email probably doesn’t handle very well as most email service providers cap email sizes at just couple of megabytes to keep everything running smoothly.

Choices
Hotmailhttp://ninemsn.com.au – Free for a limited size account, good virus and spam protection (they were the first commercial webmail provider in 1995)

Yahoohttp://mail.yahoo.com.au – Larger email inbox size for free at 1 gigabyte plus the ability to quicly creative disposable email addresses.

Gmail – http://www.gmail.com/ Now offering 2.5 gigabytles of storage space. At the moment gmail is by invitation only.

If you would like a Gmail webmail account I will send invitations to join Gmail to the first 20 Nelly at Night listeners who drop me a line - wells.andy@gmail.com
